10. Walrow Ponds

Brief description of fishery:

These Ponds are the result of Clay digging back in the early 1900’s. This complex was purchased by Bridgwater angling with agreement from Highbridge Angling Association to purchase half of the venue. Over time agreement was made for the proceeds of night fishing tickets to be used to maintain the venues.

The Bridgwater Angling Association owns Walrow Ponds and has done a lot of work improving this fishing venue after it purchase in 1989.

There are three lakes on this complex (Railway, Snag and Factory). Snag is a brilliant lake for match-style fishing, and you’ll have a busy day ahead of you as the lake is nicely stocked. The other two lakes are usually reserved for carp anglers, but match anglers shouldn’t ignore these two either.

These Lakes are jointly run with Highbridge Angling Association.

Situated off Walrow Road, Highbridge. Leaving the roundabout in Highbridge head east, immediately over the railway bridge turn left into a lane between the houses. The entrance to the lakes is through the gate at the end of the lane. Members vehicles must be parked inside the entrance gate to the complex. A clamping policy operating in the entrance road area.

Only Adult Season Permit holders allowed to purchase Night Ticket £5.00. No Juniors allowed to night fish.

No Livebaiting, no deadbaiting with freshwater fish. No one is allowed on the banks between 10.30 pm and 5.30 am. Unless they have purchased a night fishing ticket from Veals Fishing Tackle Highbridge Tel: 01278 786934.

BAA Permit does not allow fishing on any other North Somerset waters. Members will be notified of the combination lock by email and within the Clubmate app. Please keep gates locked at all times.

Snag lake lives up to it name, it has good quality carp and some nice sized bream. The lake also holds some good Roach, Rudd and a few Tench.

Factory has been primarily a Carp venue for some time with some over 30lb. There is a good head of 20s and plenty of doubles to fish for. With the recent joining of Factory and Snags it is hard to tell where the fish now reside.

Railway lake is a bit of a jewel for years focused on by Carp anglers but any loacls used to head there for those elusive specimens of multiple other species. This lake has recently been Drained by Highbridge Angling Association, cleared of all its Snags and the Banks cleaned up. Stocking is a little unknown.
